Who is involved

The IRCOBI Council consists of members from all over the world. Members are elected on their individual merits and not as representatives of specific countries, corporations, academic institutions or government agencies. Their expertise is in conducting and encouraging research on biomechanics and injury mechanisms, in leading debate on research findings and in encouraging publication of these findings in the IRCOBI proceedings as well as in other peer-reviewed scientific journals.

The IRCOBI Council members are recognised specialists in their field and have considerable experience in impact biomechanics, crash investigation, injury assessment and outcomes, blast and sports injuries, constitutive modelling and passive safety research. Using the research work submitted and presented at the annual conferences as well as through other peer-reviewed technical literature, they are in a unique position to identify the state of current knowledge. They also have a commanding position to identify areas where further basic and applied research can produce substantial improvements in road user safety.

During 2013 the IRCOBI Council established a Scientific Review Committee to increase the pool of researchers to participate in the technical manuscript review process. As with the Council, Committee members come from many countries around the world and are invited to serve on their individual merits.
