Council Members - Klaus Langwieder

For about 40 years Professor Dr.-Ing. Klaus Langwieder is engaged in Accident Research and Biomechanics. Up to 2003 he was Director of the Institute for Vehicle Safety of the German Insurance Association GDV in Munich. Since 1974 he is member of the German Traffic Safety Council (DVR); for 12 years he chaired the DVR Committee “Vehicle Technology”. Since 1991 he was chairman of different committees of the European Federation of the Insurance Industry (CEA) especially the European CEA Committee “Prevention and Road Safety”. Furthermore, until 2006 he was President of the Research Projects “Safety Rating based on Real World Crashes (SARAC) and “Assessment of Child Safety Systems (NPACS I) of the European Commission”. Since 2006 he is involved in “International Safety Consulting”. He is Professor for Accident Research and Vehicle Safety in Dresden and is now President of the “German Academy of Driving Instructors (DFA)” in Stuttgart. He represents various organisations in European Committees like ECE, ISO, ETSC and is related to the International Insurance Whiplash Prevention Group (IIWPG)”. He regularly organises international conferences concerning Road Safety and Injury Prevention and is member in scientific committees as AAAM and IRCOBI.
